Since its launch in 2019, NuNorthern Soul’s Summer Selections series has become a cherished release for fans craving the sun-drenched vibes of Ibiza’s iconic Balearic scene. Summer Selections Five marks the series’ return after a three-year hiatus, delivering six expertly curated tracks from a lineup of exciting artists, each exemplifying Ibiza-ready styles and sounds. This collection is perfect for lovers of Balearic beats, downtempo grooves, and sunset soundtracks.

Kicking off the release is Manchester duo Nightdubbing, whose track ‘Nightdubbing’ - originally featured on their 2023 debut album - is remixed by Manu Archeo, head of Archeo Recordings. His remix masterfully blends slow-motion electronic grooves, deep basslines, ambient textures, and melodic motifs, creating a lush, immersive listening experience.

Next, George Koutalieries presents ‘Seasons’, a relaxed yet rhythmically engaging track featuring vocal arrangements, mellow synth bass, acoustic guitars, and cosmic electronics - perfect for a lazy afternoon or sunset chill. James E Burton offers a dreamy, live-sounding electronic piece with picturesque melodies and soothing chords.

The compilation continues with a teaser from Visions of Light - a new project from Simon Sheldon (founder of Free Booter Lounge) and collaborators Muzka and Dan Dub Lounge - with ‘The Mandela Vortex’, a dub-infused Balearic shuffle rich with percussion, guitar solos, and echoing melodies.

To close the collection, two atmospheric gems are featured: ‘The Big Calm Dubwise’ by Saimon under the Roots Artefact alias, a vintage-style Balearic dub classic, and ‘Shadow’s Tango’ by rising French artist Jilo, blending nu-disco grooves, Italo-house pianos, and kaleidoscopic chords for an uplifting finale.
