DAYBREAKERS Records presents 'Root Down 30', a double vinyl celebration of one of Europe's most influential club institutions. Compiled by legendary DJ, producer and tastemaker Rainer Trüby, the collection marks 30 years of Root Down, the Freiburg party that has been bringing together Jazz, Brazilian grooves, Soulful and Deep House, Broken Beat, Afro-Latin rhythms and forward-thinking electronic music since 1996.

Long before today's eclectic approach to club music became commonplace, Root Down was built around an open-minded musical philosophy where genre boundaries mattered less than groove, soul and quality. Across three decades, the party developed into an important meeting point for adventurous dancers, DJs and record collectors, helping establish Freiburg as an unlikely but significant destination on the international underground music map.

The list of artists to have passed through Root Down reflects the depth of that musical outlook, with previous guests including Jazzanova, Gilles Peterson, Theo Parrish, Kyoto Jazz Massive, Jimpster, Laurent Garnier, Dixon, Peter Kruder and Richard Dorfmeister. Rather than following a single scene, Root Down created its identity by connecting the dots between Jazz, House, Broken Beat, Brazilian music, Afro-Latin sounds and deeper electronic grooves.

Handpicked by Rainer Trüby, 'Root Down 30' captures that same philosophy across ten carefully selected tracks. Flashbaxx opens with 'Brooklyn Love Boat', followed by The Soul Session with 'Horse With No Name' in a Marlow & Trüby Refix, setting out the compilation's warm, groove-led approach.

Elsewhere, Jazzanova – 'No Use' receives a remix from Crackazat, bringing together two generations of jazz-inflected club music, while Rawb Boss – 'Coafeelia (Yoruba Soul Mix)' adds the unmistakable depth of Osunlade's Yoruba Soul sound. Jimpster takes on BaianaSystem featuring Antonio Carlos & Jocafi's 'Água', connecting Brazilian influences with sophisticated contemporary Deep House.
