Description

After a mysterious hiatus, Lost Property returns with the fifth instalment in its sought-after series of underground edits. Known for its limited-run releases and cult following throughout the 2010s, the label has reappeared just as unexpectedly as it disappeared, bringing four inventive reworks for DJs and collectors who appreciate unusual source material, heavyweight dub treatments and leftfield dancefloor discoveries.

The A-side opens with There’s More 2 Lyfe (PBR Refix), giving an often-overlooked dancefloor cut from Björk’s Debut era the DJ-focused edit treatment it deserves. EXCITE HER (Magari Aerobic Dub) follows with a distinctive rework of a rare NRG record originally associated with an aerobics accompaniment album, transforming its unusual origins into something made for adventurous selectors.

On the flip, TO NITE (PBR Heavy Dub) turns towards funk, with PBR delivering a weighty dub interpretation of one of The Whispers’ less-celebrated tracks. Closing the EP, Amante Bailar (Magari Wrong Speed Dub) explores wonky, sleazy Italo territory. Using the intriguing wrong-speed technique alongside additional synth work, Magari reshapes the source into something unexpected, hypnotic and distinctly off-centre.

With DJ support from an eclectic mix of selectors including DJ Harvey, Bicep, Todd Edwards / TEED, Sarah Story, Joe Goddard, Horse Meat Disco, Greg Wilson, Crazy P, Justin Strauss, Sean Johnston / ALFOS and Red Rack’em, Lost Property 5 continues the series’ reputation for adventurous edits and limited-edition underground music. A compelling choice for deep house, disco, funk and leftfield DJ sets, this black 12-inch vinyl is aimed squarely at selectors who like their dancefloor tools with a twist.
