Description:

Slush Records hits release number three with a stunning archival rescue — the remastered reissue of Spacer IV aka James Zeiter's sought-after 1997 EP, originally pressed on Manchester's Pleasure Records. A pivotal figure with deep ties to progressive trance, ambient techno and the deeper ends of electronic music, Zeiter's work here marks a fascinating departure from his dub-techno calling card into richer, more melodic and house-rooted terrain — four distinctive and versatile club cuts that still sound uniquely vital nearly three decades on.

Zeiter's story begins in 1995, when only 195 white labels of his first record ARC 1 / ARC 2 were pressed — a copy finding its way to Pete Robinson at Robs Records, who plucked 'ARC 2' for a proper pressing on Pleasure Records to notable success. By 1997 and armed with limited hardware including an Akai S950 sampler, Ensoniq ESQ-1 and Novation Bass Station 1, Zeiter chose to depart the trance-infused techno sound of those early releases, absorbing elements by osmosis and laying down the four tracks that make up this EP.

Opening cut 'Sirocco' is the standout — a halcyon, tingling blend of dubbed-out breaks and echoing airy pads drifting above a slow-motion acid line, pulling equally from ambient, chill out, breaks and deep house. One of those rare tracks with the power to float you away or fuel your buzz, giving a healthy tug on the heartstrings in the process. 'Mono' follows with loopy Detroit swing and a sunset-kissed bassline nodding to Italian dream house — deep and heads-down yet suffused with warmth and eyes-closed euphoria.

On the flip, 'Jetson' steps back into more familiar progressive trance-inflected territory — spacious, hypnotic and driven by crisp propulsive drums, trippy and groove-locking yet mind-expanding. Closing the EP, 'Dust' serves up writhing acid lines and spaced-out FX, forever building in intensity before dropping you into the vacuum of deep space — balancing tension and lift with Zeiter's signature restraint. Slush's remaster preserves every nuance while the full 12 inch format gives these deep cuts the dynamic range they have always deserved.

Perfect for DJs and collectors into deep tech vinyl, deep house records, progressive trance 12 inch vinyl, acid house, prog, ambient techno and essential reissues from the underground electronic music archive.
