Brighton underground institution Stompa Phunk relaunches its vinyl label, Stompa Phunk Records Inc, with Sound Klash – 'You Had It (Edit) / Music Got (Dub)' — a raw, hardware-driven two-tracker rooted in the foundations of Chicago House, 90s House, Progressive House and dub. After three decades of helping define Brighton's underground club landscape, Stompa Phunk takes its uncompromising dancefloor philosophy back to wax with a release steeped in house music history.

The sound draws directly from the raw foundations of underground house music — bass-heavy grooves, drum machines, synthesisers, tape-spliced edits and hardware pushed to its limits. It's a collision between imagination and machines that perfectly reflects the philosophy behind Stompa Phunk: heavy sample-delia, jackin' bodies, acid energy, a disco-dub mentality and second-hand technology. Little is known about the producer — or producers — behind the mysterious Sound Klash project. Over the last 18 months, the shadowy project has been reworking cuts from the bulging back catalogue of the Brighton institution, and this first 12 inch vinyl release brings two killer re-rubs to wax. 'You Had It (Edit)' is a glassy-eyed slice of loved-up 90s House, combining uplifting piano, bleeps and vintage dancefloor energy with a beefed-up, percussion-rich makeover.

On the flip, 'Music Got (Dub)' dives deeper, reassembling the spirit of an NYC proto-house favourite into a seriously effective 1993-style Progressive House monster. Raw, hypnotic and unmistakably underground, it's a heavyweight dub-house workout built for dark rooms, big systems and DJs with a taste for the rougher edges of vintage club music.
