Celebrate the legendary spirit of Ibiza with "PARAISO - The True Spirit of Ibiza," a meticulously curated compilation selected by DJ Alfredo, released on Rebirth Records. This album pays homage to Ibiza’s rich history as a haven for freedom, creativity, and musical innovation — a place where sunrises, sunsets, and soundscapes merge into an eternal vibe.
Tracing back to the island’s roots in the 1950s and '60s, Ibiza attracted artists, hippies, and free spirits seeking escape and artistic expression. It was in 1976 that Alfredo Fiorito, escaping political repression from Argentina, arrived on the island and became a pioneering DJ at Amnesia, blending reggae, flamenco, soul, rock, and early house to create a hypnotic, genre-defying sound. His eclectic sets helped shape what became known as the Balearic Beat, a mindset that celebrates rhythm, spirit, and psychedelia.
This collection captures the essence of that movement — from the iconic sunset sessions of José Padilla at Café del Mar to the innovative sounds of clubs like KU, Es Paradis, Pacha, and Lola’s. It embodies the raw, untamed energy of Ibiza’s golden era and the enduring spirit that continues to inspire today’s underground scenes, intimate venues, and sacred spots like Benirrás and Las Dalias.
Despite changes in legislation and commercialisation, the true Balearic soul persists. In 2022, Daniele “Shield” Contrini of Rebirth Records assembled "PARAISO," a tribute to Alfredo Fiorito’s legacy. Though licensing hurdles and Alfredo’s passing in December 2024 posed challenges, the project moved forward, uniting artists to honor his vision. Set for release in August, this album features an unreleased Alfredo track and a curated selection of influential tunes that embody the true spirit of Ibiza.
