Description:

Celestial Echo brings a sought-after modern soul classic back into circulation with Ramsey & Company – 'Love Call', a highly regarded 7 inch vinyl reissue of one of the great underground soul 45s. Originally released privately in 1979 on Mainor Ramsey's own Ramco label, the single received limited distribution before finding a second life among collectors, DJs and dancers within the UK's modern soul and rare groove scenes. Now, this elusive gem returns on Celestial Echo, giving a new generation of soul enthusiasts the chance to own a piece of dancefloor history.

Led by Mainor Ramsey, Ramsey & Company originally performed on the Catskills supper club circuit in New York during the late 1970s. Their sole single gradually developed an underground reputation, with the A-side 'Love Call' proving particularly enduring. A beautifully arranged modern soul dancer, the track combines a warm, infectious groove with rich horn arrangements, gritty guitar licks, jazzy Rhodes piano and extended instrumental solos. Balancing soulful songwriting with a disco-inflected rhythm, it captures the musicianship and dancefloor appeal that make late-'70s soul so timeless.

On the flip, 'Leg Grease' takes things in a funkier direction, delivering a raw, groove-heavy instrumental jam packed with character. With its gritty riffs, jazz-influenced touches and expressive solo work, the B-side evokes the feel of a lost Blaxploitation soundtrack, making this a compelling two-sided release for DJs who appreciate deep funk and rare soul discoveries.

With original copies now exceptionally difficult to find and previous reissues becoming increasingly sought after, this Celestial Echo edition makes an essential modern soul rarity accessible once again. Respectfully reissued and cut loud for the dancefloor, 'Love Call' is a must-have for collectors of rare soul vinyl, modern soul 45s, disco and funk. Whether you're a seasoned rare groove selector or discovering this underground classic for the first time, this limited-format soul gem deserves a place in your collection.
