Originally formed under the direction of Roy Ayers as Roy Ayers Music Productions, RAMP brought together a collective of exceptional musicians and arrangers including Edwin Birdsong and William Allen, alongside elite session players such as vocalist Sibel Thrasher, Sharon Matthews, drummer John Manuel of The Spinners, guitarist Landy Shores, and bassist Nate White. The result is a deeply musical, soulful body of work that continues to resonate across jazz-funk and soul communities worldwide.

‘Daylight’ stands as one of the most iconic cuts from the album — a warm, drifting piece of soulful jazz-funk built on soft grooves, airy vocals, and glowing instrumentation. Widely recognised for its influence, it was famously sampled by A Tribe Called Quest on ‘Bonita Applebum’ and later reinterpreted by J Dilla for his remix of Common – Come Close, cementing its place in music history.
