Originally conceived from an early demo session in 2011, “I Like” finally comes to life over a decade later through the renewed collaboration between Shield (Daniele Contrini) and Piero Pirupa. Reuniting in late 2025, the pair transform an unfinished idea into a powerful, peak-time club-ready vinyl release on Rebirth Records, featuring two iconic voices from the history of electronic music.

At the heart of the record is the unmistakable presence of The Egyptian Lover (Greg Broussard), one of the foundational figures in West Coast electro and early hip-hop. Known for his pioneering use of the Roland TR-808, his vocal performance injects raw energy and authentic old-school attitude into the track, connecting the record directly to the golden era of 1980s electronic club culture.

Adding further depth is the legendary Paris Brightledge, a defining voice in Chicago house music history, known for timeless cuts such as “It’s Alright” and “Paris Dub 1”. With a career spanning collaborations with pioneers including Frankie Knuckles, Marshall Jefferson, Ron Hardy, Joe Smooth, Farley “Jackmaster” Funk, Mike Dunn and Byron Stingily, his contribution brings soulful depth and emotional weight to the record.

Musically, “I Like” blends Italo disco-inspired textures, classic house grooves and a driving electro bassline, resulting in a warm yet powerful production built for modern dancefloors.
