Description:
Italian duo Niños du Brasil return with their fifth full-length album, 'Ordem Micelial', released through Multi Culti. Bringing together live batucada percussion, electronics, ritualistic vocals, Punk intensity and Latin rhythmic influences, the record pushes the duo's unmistakable sound into new territory while retaining the visceral energy that has made them one of contemporary underground music's most distinctive acts.
Formed by Nicolò Fortuni and contemporary artist Nico Vascellari, Niños du Brasil emerged from Italy's underground over a decade ago with a sound resistant to easy categorisation. Frenetic live percussion collides with electronic production, primal chants and vocals delivered in an imagined language, while their famously intense and unpredictable performances blur the boundaries between concert, club experience and ritual.
'Ordem Micelial' follows 2021's 'Antro Pop', released through Codalunga / Hospital Productions during the Covid lockdown period. With the accompanying world tour cancelled, the enforced hiatus provided the circumstances in which this new album gradually began to take shape.
Across eight tracks, the core elements of the Niños du Brasil sound remain firmly intact. Frenetic drumming, ritualistic chants and relentless rhythmic pressure run throughout tracks including 'Esporos Dançam', 'Vermelho E Branco' and 'Subterrâneo Chuchupe', creating a dense collision of Experimental Electronica, World music, Latin percussion and raw underground energy.
The duo also use the album to push beyond their established palette. Most notably, closing track 'Innaya Som' erupts into a full guitar-driven Rock assault, bringing the hardcore and Punk foundations that have always existed beneath their music directly to the surface. Elsewhere, psychedelic textures and hypnotic rhythms give the record moments of atmospheric contrast without diminishing its percussive force.
Recorded and produced by longtime collaborator Rocco Rampino, the album achieves a formidable wall of sound while maintaining impressive clarity between its individual elements. Live drums, electronics, voices and guitars occupy their own space even at the record's most overwhelming moments, giving the production both physical impact and depth.
Part carnival rave, part ritualistic percussion workout and part Punk freak-out, 'Ordem Micelial' expands the mythology surrounding Niños du Brasil without sacrificing the wildness at the heart of their music. It's an adventurous meeting point between Latin rhythms, experimental electronic music, Rock, World music and the energy of underground club culture.
Perfect for listeners and collectors into experimental vinyl, percussion-driven Electronica, Latin and World music, Balearic sounds, psychedelic Rock and leftfield electronic music. Niños du Brasil – Ordem Micelial is a distinctive 12 inch vinyl LP built around rhythm, ritual and raw physical energy.
