Description

Brookside Music delivers a mighty 12-inch featuring two previously unreleased vinyl remixes from disco mixer Mike Maurro, revisiting two essential classics from the Philadelphia soul and disco catalogue. Following the digital release of his Philadelphia International Records remixes, this release brings extended, carefully crafted versions of M.F.S.B.’s “Love Is The Message” and The O’Jays’ “Message In Our Music” to wax.

On the A-side, Maurro gives M.F.S.B.’s iconic “Love Is The Message” the full extended treatment, using rearranged elements, instrumental solos, builds and drop-outs to bring fresh energy to a timeless dancefloor favourite. The result captures the drama and musical detail of classic disco mixing while staying true to the original.

On the flip, The O’Jays’ “Message In Our Music” receives the same meticulous treatment, building tension and release without unnecessary additions. Pressed on high-quality black vinyl and housed in a vintage-inspired picture sleeve, this is an essential pick for fans of Philadelphia disco, soulful edits and the multi-track remix tradition of Tom Moulton, Rephlex and Moplen.
