Description:
LA-based producer Luxxury returns with 'Vol 7' on Exxpensive Sounding Music, bringing four more sought-after edits from his acclaimed reworks series to 12 inch vinyl. Moving through Disco, Nu Disco, Pop Disco, New Wave and leftfield funk, the EP takes familiar favourites and reshapes them into stylish, groove-heavy versions made with the dancefloor firmly in mind.
Known for digging beneath the surface of classic and contemporary songs to highlight their most infectious musical elements, Luxxury has built a reputation for inventive Disco edits that feel both familiar and refreshingly different. Across Vol 7, basslines, guitar riffs and hooks are pushed to the foreground, with arrangements extended, dubbed and reworked into four DJ-friendly club cuts.
Opening track 'Is It Real, Now?' reimagines Empire Of The Sun's 'Walking On A Dream', dubbing out the Australian indie-disco favourite and expanding its melodic qualities into a spacious, dancefloor-ready rework. The recognisable character remains intact, but Luxxury's arrangement gives the track a fresh sense of movement and scale.
Next up, 'Rap Chore' turns its attention to Blondie's 'Rapture'. Slowed into a slinky, funk-driven groove, the edit places extra emphasis on the track's bassline and guitar work, highlighting the collision of New Wave, Disco and early Hip-Hop that made the original such an influential crossover record.
On the flip, 'Groove Prove' tackles Madonna's 'Into The Groove', focusing on the irresistible sixteenth-note bassline at the heart of the 80s Pop classic. Luxxury pushes the Disco elements forward to create a classy, club-friendly edit that retains the original's infectious energy while giving DJs more room to work.
Closing track 'Disco 82' heads further afield, digging into Indian funk and Disco for a colourful leftfield workout. It's a fitting finale to an EP that moves freely between eras and styles while maintaining a consistent focus on basslines, rhythm and dancefloor groove.
The series has earned DJ support from respected selectors including Greg Wilson, The Reflex, JKriv and DJ Harvey, underlining Luxxury's reputation for edits that work equally well for dedicated Disco heads and eclectic club DJs.
Perfect for DJs and collectors into Disco edits on vinyl, Nu Disco, Leftfield Disco, Pop Disco, Disco House and reworked 80s classics. With four inventive edits pressed to 12 inch vinyl, Luxxury – Vol 7 is another versatile addition to the record bag from one of contemporary Disco's most distinctive edit producers.
