Description
Underground disco veterans Layne & Chang bring their deep-rooted dancefloor credentials to Whiskey Disco with Shake Your Body, a four-track release that blends funk-driven disco, cosmic grooves and club-focused reworks. With Chang's long-standing presence in dance music and Layne Fox's work behind cult-loved Disco Dimensions and as one half of 40 Thieves, the pair draw on a rich lineage of underground disco and boogie.
The original “Shake Your Body” kicks things off with a locked-in funk groove, swirling melodic lines, subtly acidic textures, warm vocoder touches and punchy drums designed for peak-time movement. “In The Desert (Dub)” takes a more atmospheric route, delivering a hazy, transportive groove suited to late-night sessions, open-air parties and deeper listening.
The B-side sees Dan Tyler of the Idjut Boys take the track into more cosmic territory with two distinctive reworks. Known for his influential role in underground edit culture and as co-founder of Noid Recordings, Tyler brings his signature psychedelic touch to the “Dan Tyler Idjut Dub” and “Dan Tyler Idjut 808 Version”. Elastic rhythms, spacey textures and system-ready low-end give both versions a heady, physical energy that stretches well beyond traditional disco edits.
Rooted in disco but reaching into nu disco, electro and leftfield club territory, Shake Your Body is a versatile four-track package with serious dancefloor appeal. An excellent pick for selectors looking for cosmic disco, extended grooves and adventurous edits on a quality Whiskey Disco 12-inch.
