Larry Bright's 'New Dimensions' is a remarkable slice of jazz fusion, jazz funk and electronic music originally self-released in 1987. Having spent much of his career behind the kit supporting influential figures including Sun Ra and Ahmad Jamal, Bright stepped into the spotlight for his sophomore solo album, creating a futuristic and adventurous record that pushes the boundaries of nu-jazz and experimental funk.

Across eight tracks, Bright combines his jazz background with spaced-out synths, pop-inspired song structures, drum machine-driven rhythms and electronic textures. The result is a beautifully unusual meeting point between jazz fusion, electro-funk and electronic jazz, with an unmistakable 1980s character.
