Description

Paris Acid Ball / This Bitch Is Alive brings together two connected pieces of queer club history on a special 12-inch vinyl release from Batty Bass Records. Pairing Hannah Holland's cult 2010 production with an early track from The Carry Nation featuring Viva Ruiz, this double-sider celebrates the underground dancefloors, creative friendships and queer communities that have shaped house music on both sides of the Atlantic.

Originally produced by Hannah Holland while living in Berlin, Paris Acid Ball draws on the energy of Panorama Bar and summers spent immersed in the legendary NYC Downlow at Glastonbury. Inspired by Jennie Livingston's landmark documentary Paris Is Burning, introduced to Holland by East London drag icon Jonny Woo, the track pays tribute to ballroom culture, queer nightlife and the dancefloors where these worlds meet. Its release on vinyl finally gives this early slice of the Batty Bass catalogue the physical pressing it deserves as part of the label's relaunch.

The story continues on the flip with The Carry Nation – This Bitch Is Alive, featuring Viva Ruiz. The track emerged after Paris Acid Ball began finding support among London's underground DJs and made its way into the record bags of New York selectors Will Automagic and Nita Aviance. Already deeply connected to the city's club scene through The Loft, downtown residencies and the House of Aviance, the pair sent Holland an early demo from their new project, sparking a lasting creative relationship between the artists.

Sixteen years on, that connection has grown through shared nights in London, Glastonbury, New York and Berlin, collaborative releases and a continued commitment to championing queer dancefloor culture. Blending acid-driven club energy, house rhythms and underground attitude, this black 12-inch vinyl is more than a two-track DJ tool: it's a celebration of the communities and cultural exchanges that keep club music alive.
