Few artists have shaped modern dance music like Frankie Knuckles. From his pioneering days in Chicago’s underground scene to becoming a globally recognised figure, Frankie’s influence transformed house music forever. Across a career spanning almost four decades, he worked alongside some of the biggest names in music while creating a catalogue that continues to inspire generations of DJs, producers and dancers worldwide.
Following Frankie’s passing in 2014, longtime collaborator Eric Kupper continued their shared creative vision through Director’s Cut, a project established in 2011 that revisited and reimagined classic productions through the lens of the legendary Def Mix sound. Together, Frankie and Eric created modern interpretations of timeless records while maintaining the soul, groove and emotional depth that made their original work so iconic.
Volume 3 of The Director’s Cut Collection features a carefully curated selection of standout productions, including Inaya Day & Robin S – 'Right Now' (A Director’s Cut Master), Marko Militano – 'Good People' (Director’s Cut Signature Mix), and stunning reinterpretations of Vintage Lounge Orchestra – 'Dreams' and Art Department presents Martina Topley Bird feat.
