Description:
Rain&Shine proudly presents ENERGIZE, a post-hippie era band from Marin County, California, originally active in 1979. Previously unobtainable even for top DJs due to its rarity, this double A-side modern soul/disco 45 receives an official re-issue treatment for the first time.
The band, led by producer and guitarist Archie Williams (son of Archie Williams Sr., WWII pilot and 1936 Olympic champion), songwriter/guitarist Dan Hayes, and executive producer John Isabeau, created a record that has captivated listeners for over four decades. The A-side, "Piece of Class," is a bustling disco-funk gem featuring hazy vocals, dueling horn solos, spacey synthesizer flourishes, and driving bass guitar. The B-side, "Star of the Disco," is an up-tempo, high-energy track with mazy saxophone solos, rasping horn stabs, starry jazz-funk keys, and a walking bassline paired with dynamic disco drums.
Originally a private press, copies of Energize's 1979 single have historically sold for over £500 online. This licensed reissue allows collectors and DJs to finally own this rare and influential record.
