Bliz Nochi began his musical journey at age 7 with the accordion, later expanding his skills to guitar and piano. By 17, he was experimenting with metal, dub, electronic, and indie genres. In 2016, he started releasing music under the name Bliz Nochi, blending world music and exotica infused with Balkan influences, which eventually led him to collaborate with master musician Emil Jourjou.
Emil Jourjou, a distinguished cimbal player from Chisinau, Moldova, studied at the renowned Ciprian Porumbescu music school. His extensive experience and deep connection to Balkan musical traditions have seen him perform at major events such as the World Expo in Hanover and for the Philharmonic in Lübeck. His mastery bridges classical and folk music, enriching the cultural tapestry of this project.
In 2021, Emil and Bliz Nochi began recording together, remixing their friend and mentor Andi Otto for Multi Culti — a project that later appeared on last year's Buddha Bar compilation. This collaboration laid the foundation for Cimbal Tanz, a full-length LP that features one side dedicated to traditional cimbal recordings and the other side a fusion of Balkan music with Bliz Nochi’s electronic production. This format highlights the often-overlooked talent of solo musicians within a modern context.
Cimbal Tanz is more than an album; it’s an immersive journey blending tradition and innovation. It showcases Bliz Nochi’s dedication to his roots while pushing musical boundaries, offering listeners a fresh perspective on Moldovan and Balkan music infused with contemporary electronic styles.
