Description:
Melbourne producer Nick Verwey, better known as Dawn Again, continues his impressive run on Hell Yeah Recordings with 'Pints Of Ambient Nectar', his third new album in consecutive years. This eight-track collection sees the Australian 'pubwave' specialist move further away from the dancefloor, delivering a hazy and unhurried selection of new ambient works alongside reimagined material from his 2024 album 'Every Dog's Hotel' and 2025's 'Lost In The Front Bar'.
Over the last decade, Verwey has quietly refined a distinctive sound that feels loose, lived-in and deeply connected to real-world moments rather than peak-time club theatrics. His signature pubwave aesthetic blends faded electronics, downtempo grooves, hazy house textures and nostalgic ambience, inspired by lockdown memories, communal pints and the strange romance of places where conversations linger and time seems to slow down.
The album begins with bird calls and slowly awakening synthesiser tones on 'Backyard Paradiso (Ambient Mix)', setting the tone for a beautifully atmospheric journey. 'A Day In The Life Of Pond Algae' becomes a gentle meditation on hope and revival, while 'Slow Motion Goal Celebration' smudges warm chords into a sun-drenched haze. Elsewhere, 'Kneverending Knockoffs' introduces subtle acid murmurs beneath floating melodic clouds, while the new cut 'A Pub With No Beer' places sugary melodic lines against sustained ambient drones.
The B-side continues the slow-motion drift with 'Hard Earned Thirst', a mellow piece of ambient magic made for horizontal afternoons, before 'Hair Of The Dawg' shimmers like heat haze on the horizon. Closing track 'Vanilla Sky' offers a cathartic and weightless finale, unfolding through soft synth textures and slowly moving waves of sound.
With DJ support from Chris Coco, DJ Morpheus, Alexis Le-Tan, DVS1, Afterlife, Bill Brewster and Alex Ruder of KEXP, 'Pints Of Ambient Nectar' is a beautifully understated record that stretches Dawn Again's pubwave nostalgia into something more spacious, reflective and immersive. Perfect for slow afternoons, warm evenings and moments when you simply want to let the music hang in the air.
