Description:

For the landmark tenth release on I Travel to You, Comb Versions delivers 'Rip', two lovingly crafted reinterpretations of a seminal 1983 post-punk classic, rebuilt through the lens of Street Soul, Funk and Electro. Presented on 7 inch vinyl, the release combines soulful vocals, crisp drum machine rhythms, rubbery basslines and touches of the unmistakable Roland TB-303.

The release sees Henry Comb put his own spin on Orange Juice's 'Rip It Up', the influential 1983 track famous for bringing the sound of the TB-303 into the charts years before the machine became synonymous with acid house. Rather than simply recreating the original, Comb gives it extra rhythmic weight while retaining the hooks and character that made the track so distinctive.

On the A-side, 'Rip (Juicy Mix)' takes a warm Street Soul-inspired approach, pairing soulful female vocals with a popping DX bassline and crisp 808 drums. Teasing curls of 303 weave through the arrangement, while the track's iconic saxophone solo adds an extra layer of funk and familiarity. The result is bright, soulful and packed with groove.

The flip heads somewhere deeper with 'Rip (After Hours Dub)'. Instrumentation is stripped back in favour of breaks, an M1 bassline, squelchy touches of 303 and a repeated male vocal refrain. Low-slung and hypnotic, it's a serious head-nodder that transforms the source material into a tougher late-night dub while maintaining the soulful character of the A-side.

The record has already received DJ support from Shy One, Macca, Jaye Ward and Secretsundaze, making this another strong addition to the Norwich-based I Travel to You catalogue.

Perfect for DJs and collectors into Street Soul vinyl, Electro, funk, 80s-inspired electronic music, edits and leftfield 7 inch records. With two contrasting versions combining classic songwriting with drum machines, basslines and flashes of acid, 'Rip' is a fitting release to mark ITTY's tenth instalment.

Tracklist:

A1 - Rip (Juicy Mix)
B1 - Rip (After Hours Dub)
