Description
Celebrate a piece of Detroit history with Black Electric’s self-titled release on Terrestrial Funk. Born and raised in Motor City, Karl Fultz’s journey into techno and electro is legendary. Having previously released on Juan Atkins’ Metroplex and Puzzlebox under the alias People Mover, Fultz’s project Black Electric aimed to bring more women into the techno movement, inspired by British synth-pop duo Eurythmics. Collaborating with vocalists Tiffany Elliott, Kim Glover, and Talena Fultz, Black Electric added sex appeal to Detroit’s electronic scene. Their first and only release remains highly sought after, now reissued with two fresh cuts on this 12” vinyl.
This reissue from Terrestrial Funk features "Purple", a chugging Detroit acid track that explores soul modification to enhance intimacy, and a bassed-out club mix of "Work That", the electro sex song previously only available as an acapella. Black Electric stands as a testament to Detroit’s undying devotion to expanding our connection to music, capturing the city’s spirit at the turn of the century.
