Test Pressing Tracks is the brand new club-focused sub-label from the celebrated Test Pressing crew — and it launches in fine style with this debut release from Apiento and his regular studio partner Tepper. Three releases are already lined up and anticipation is high, but first things first: an essential three-tracker of acid-era electronica, electro and dreamy Italo-influenced electronics that sets out the label's stall with real confidence. Opening the A-side, 'The Yellow Place' features the guest vocals of MC Kinky — famous for voicing the beloved acid house era classic 'Everything Starts With An E' — and does not disappoint. A chugging, thickset chunk of acid-era nostalgia laden with druggy bass, spacey electronics, rolling electro-not-electro drums and robotic vocoder samples, it is a record that wears its influences proudly while sounding entirely its own. An instrumental take follows on A2, stripping things back and letting the production breathe for those who want a cleaner DJ tool.

Flipping to the B-side, 'Le Tour' is a dreamier, deeper and more colourful affair — thrillingly melody-rich and sitting beautifully somewhere between nu-disco and mid-90s dancefloor electronica. A deep electronic journey that, as the label themselves put it, sounds best very loud. With DJ support from Sound Metaphors, Castro & Nemo, Luke Una and more, this is a debut release that has already found its audience among the most discerning ears in underground electronic music.
