Originally released in the late 1970s and early 1980s, these recordings capture a pivotal moment in the evolution of Afro-Latin music, where traditional rhythms began merging with emerging electronic instrumentation.

During this era, studios linked to Discos Fuentes were pushing tropical music into new territory. Classic cumbia rhythms remained at the foundation, but were now driven forward by electric organs, early synthesizers, drum machines and distorted, fuzzed-out guitars. The result is a raw, hypnotic and deeply rhythmic sound that feels ahead of its time — almost proto-electronic in structure and energy.

On this essential 7 inch vinyl release, Afrosound – “Tiro Al Blanco” delivers an undeniable A-side anthem, built on rolling percussion, locked-in bass and swirling psychedelic textures designed to dominate the dancefloor.
